UMass Lowell Alumni Advisory Board

Alumni Advisory Board Mission

The purpose of the UML Alumni Advisory Board is to provide an organizational framework to encourage and coordinate alumni activities and interests; to uphold and extend the influence of UML and its alumni; to strengthen the bonds and pride among alumni, students and the university through mentoring, scholarships and other programs; to communicate alumni opinions on matters affecting UML; and to foster sustainable support, such as student scholarships, for the university and its constituents.

Advisory Board Sub-Committees

Student/Alumni Engagement
The Student/Alumni Engagement Subcommittee members will serve as alumni ambassadors to any university student individually, or to any recognized student group. They will be a mentoring resource for specific or ongoing development opportunities in areas that include, but are not limited to organizational skills, club effectiveness, job search and networking.

Alumni Giving
The purpose of the Alumni Giving Subcommittee is to integrate university fundraising priorities into outreach strategies and propose enhancements to increase giving. The subcommittee will ensure the enhancement of financial support for students. Strategies will focus on the engagement of all alumni, parents and friends, at any giving level, to maximize participation. The subcommittee will also assist the university, as needed, with the selection and promotion of scholarships provided from the funds of the Independent University Alumni Association. They will also help with fundraising for specific projects. The subcommittee will meet quarterly via conference calls or in-person meetings.

Traditions
The purpose of the Traditions Subcommittee is to enhance and celebrate the legacy of the university through existing alumni programs. It serves as a sounding board for new traditions. Members recruit for and promote existing events. The subcommittee will utilize family legacies, university stories and alumni talent to provide additional value to engage alumni.
